There's a web site I visited a couple of years ago called Tickle Newsletter. I don't know why I visited it but they have all kinds of tests and some of them I found were quite interesting. I learned a lot about myself by taking these tests and I decided to post the results of my tests. I went back in my history on the site and today I will post and comment on my IQ and intelligence scores.
Brain Power Test
I took this test at 12:30 one night when I was really sleepy. I could barely wrap my head around the numbers. I think I could have gotten 29 but there was a time zone question and I wasn't sure what the time zone difference was.
Tsubame, you answered 28 out of 30 questions correctly!
Congratulations! Your score is in the 99th percentile. This means that if one hundred people took the test with you, your score would rank higher than 98 of them on average.
When we analyzed your test, (I love this "we" part; it was a computer that chose this analysis) we also discovered that when it comes to quantitative ability, you measure in the 100th percentile. This score indicates you have unusually strong abilities when it comes to solving numerical problems (I do simple addition in my head by imagining my fingers). If there is a numerical pattern to be found, you'll find it. You've got a knack for noticing when something "isn't right." Whether you're conscious of it or not, you have an ability to simply understand when something doesn't add up (even if I can't figure out what it is that doesn't add up). Also, when it comes to splitting the check, doing taxes, or determining the number of fans in a baseball stadium, you're the one people turn to. No one has ever asked me to determine the number of fans in a baseball stadium nor in a hockey arena.
Intelligence Test
Tsubame, you're smartest when it comes to visual/spatial intelligence.
Others may take their environments for granted but not you. Because of your visual/spatial intelligence you really see the world around you (I'm a photographer - what do you expect?). This strength often helps you better appreciate the beauty and detail in everyday things. From shapes in nature to the structure of a fine automobile, a countless variety of things hold your interest. Agreed.
Having this particular kind of heightened awareness (I like those two words - I have heightened awareness!) can allow you to form accurate mental images of existing places and objects. In extreme cases, one might call this strength a photographic memory (I use film). Being visually/spatially intelligent also means that you likely have a vivid imagination that can be put to use in a variety of creative or professional endeavors. Or simply used to waste time at work. Joking. I mean keep me occupied while I do menial tasks.
IQ Test
Tsubame, your IQ score is 133. Could have been worse but three other people I know have higher IQs than I do. I feel kinda stupid.
Your overall intelligence quotient is the result of a scientifically-tested formula based on how many questions you answered correctly (so how many did I get wrong?). But it's only part of what we learned about you from your answers on the test. We also determined the way you process information. Again, it was very late and I was sleepy.
The way you think about things makes you a Creative Theorist (and I have heightened awareness!). This means you are a highly intelligent, complex person. You are able to process information of nearly every kind with ease (I don't think so - my brain hurts), using both creativity and analysis to make sense of the world (and still the world makes no sense). Compared to others you also have a very rich imagination.
How did we determine that your thinking style is that of a Creative Theorist? When we (computer program) examined your test results further, we analyzed how you scored on 8 dimensions of intelligence: spatial, organizational, abstract reasoning, logical, mechanical, verbal, visual and numerical. The 3 dimensions you scored highest on combine to make you a Creative Theorist. Only 6 out of 1,000 people have this rare combination of abilities. Where can I meet them?
Hidden Talent Test
Tsubame, your true talent is spatial ability. That's congruous with the other stuff you guys said about me.
Your ability to visualize objects in three-dimensional space gives you a unique view of the world. Because of this talent, you are much better than most people at imagining new designs including floor plans, page layouts, and three-dimensional objects. I am working on visualizing things in four-dimensional space.
How do we know that's your true talent? While you were taking the test, we calculated your responses to each test question and rated your skills in 5 areas (unlikely you did it while I was taking the test as it was rather late again). You scored highest on spatial ability. It's all I'm good for.
People like you are usually great when it comes to putting together assemble-it-yourself furniture or other household items — whether the items arrive with instructions or not. Your spatial skills also help you understand the finer points of how things work. And move furniture without scratching the door frames!
Another IQ Test
Congratulations, Tsubame!
Your IQ score is 133. I couldn't improve... Absolutely deplorable!
This number is based on a scientific formula that compares how many questions you answered correctly on the Classic IQ Test relative to others.
Your Intellectual Type is Visual Mathematician (how can I make a career of this?). This means you are gifted at spotting patterns — both in pictures and in numbers. These talents combined with your overall high intelligence make you good at understanding the big picture, which is why people trust your instincts and turn to you for direction — especially in the workplace(yes, they ask me where to find things). And that's just some of what we know about you from your test results. But that's all you'll tell me unless I pay a fee to join your elitest club.
So that's it for my smarts. I got nothing else up my sleeve. Next time emotions, personality, or something else.

Posted by: Lisa E at January 26, 2006 07:18 AMFour! Four people I know have higher IQs than me. Groan. What good is it be a visual mathematician with heightened awareness. I am a failure!
