Motorola V3 Razor Camera Cellphone

It's sleek! It's super thin! It's the new Motorola V3 Razor camera phone. I was finally able to take some time out to learn some of the features of this device and the software which came with it.

The phone is bluetooth capable but I used the USB cable to connect it to my pc. This is a nice feature because as soon as I plugged in the phone, the computer automatically detected the device and installed it as an additional modem phone. The software which came with the phone was very easy to use. Just double click to open and select the features you want to use. Then its as simple as drag n drop.

Here are some samples pictures.

Health drink - bleah! Beside it is the free camera phone. Stay tuned for its review.

My tv remote. Like my coffee table? What a mess. I was surprised when the camera adjusted for the low light.

Stuck in a convoy of traffic coming back from Whistler. This picture was shrunk prior to being uploaded to my pc. A handy feature for saving memory space.

"Oh god when's this guy with the phone gonna leave. I'm naked for christs sake!" said the monkey.

"Oh well. Just go with the flow." ...hanging around a clothes rack in Richmond centre mall.

Without having to adjust color, size, detail or anything else, these pics weren't too bad. At only .3 Mpixels of resolution, we can't really ask for much. Color contrast is somewhat limited. So while it does have a vast array of features, great picture quality isn't at the top of the list. Phones in asia already have over 3 Mpixels. This camera tends more to be about looks. All pictures were taken with the default exposure settings. Brightness can be increased or decreased. Only the picture of the remote control was enhanced with extra brightness. The camera has a built in 4x digital zoom which I did not bother to show a sample of but did try. It's optical magnification which we want.
Short video clips can be saved with sound and sent via bluetooth, email, mms to another phone or through USB.

One of the biggest features for me is the embedded antennae. No more broken antennaes!

And to make things simple, setting up and adding new contact info is a breeze with the pc software provided. None of this manual entry of each character through the phone's semi-complex keypad.

So in short, it's a hit! That is, until the next generation version with a much higher resolution and memory(5Meg's currently).

Note: No animals depicted in these pictures were made to pose for the photographer under duress.
