Staring Into The Sun - Beauty & Destruction

As the Burns bog fire rages on, smoke fills the air. Lei's from the late afternoon sun are partially blocked yet the beautiful blue sky can still be seen sitting just behind.

Airplanes flew directly over me and towards the smoke as they dumped water from the ocean on the fire.

Staring Into The Sun - A Gift

During the summer some friends of mine went down to the vancouver sailing club for some windsurfing lessons. I watched with my camera and got this shot. After a few touchups in Adobe Photoshop, I had the image blown up to an 8x10 to give to the person standing on the windsurfing board for her birthday.

Green Exhibit No. 3 - Van Dusen Gardens

So what is a cloudy day good for? Nothing much really I suppose but for aspiring photographers such as myself, it's the perfect day for taking pictures. Even indoor natural light photos as well.

One such day came by and I had the opportunity to shoot some film when my relatives from LA were in town visiting. The following are four low resolution scans from images which were processed with Fuji Sensia 400 slide film. All photos were taken on a Canon T2 with a 50mm/f1.8 lens.

The flower in the foreground is not quite in focus here but I still like the colours and composition. I need to go back with a tripod to take this shot again. The background is nicely blurred.

No zoom lense was used here. This duck was very comfortable approaching visitors to the garden as he jumped out of the water and onto the grassy slope in front of me. I think he really just wanted his picture taken instead of being fed.

I've commited a violation in the world of photography. The object is centered. However, I was told that once you've learned the rules of good photography, you can break them. So break em I will!

Please turn and face the right Mr. Duck...
